Slovenia day 3 task 3 – cancelled
Not such a great forecast today – 5-6/8ths cloud plus 50% chance of thunderstorms. Still, we went up to launch where it was grey and colder than usual and a task was set – a 64km race to goal, then it was changed to a 41km elapsed time task, then finally cancelled altogether. We ended…

Slovenia day 2 task 2
With the forecast for possible thunderstorms in the afternoon the task committee set a shorter fast course – 56km, from the same takeoff at Stol. The 140 gliders milling around the start cylinder going round in a few large but gentle thermals was a surreal experience. I hope someone has some video footage of it…

Hugh Miller asks Chrigel and designer Thomas Ripplinger if the special X-Alps glider and final Omega 8 are at all similar. Read more here.

Swanage or bust!
The Long Mynd was the place to be on Saturday 15th May (Wayne Seeley flew 170km on his Omega 7!), but coming a close second was Batcombe (aka Telegraph Hill) in Dorset. The sky was looking epic as Nick, Mike and I drove down from Bath, and when we arrived shortly after 11am it seemed…
